The
goal of Meadowlands is to provide the best possible care under
all circumstances at a reasonable and competitive price. We
understand that circumstances beyond our control can affect the
decisions we make for our pets. An unforeseen financial crisis
has meant euthanasia for many beloved creatures due to accidents
or sudden illness. We offer many options to help when times are
tough. We also offer discount programs to help pay for routine
care as well. One of the worst things for an animal is for
important health care to be put off due to finances.
EMERGENCY RELIEF
PROGRAMS:
-
Veterinary Pet Insurance:
This is the best option for emergency payment. We
cannot stress the importance of insurance for your pet! You
can't foreseen accidents or illness, but you can protect
your pocketbook from the burden of such expense. But you
must have the insurance before the accident or
illness takes place. Don't wait until it's too late! Check

- The Jake
Fund: The Jake Fund was
established by Bob and Marlene Keyes in memory of their
beloved "Jake" to help owners who may not be able to afford
necessary emergency care for their pet due to financial
strain. This program requires the owner to make budgeted
monthly payments to pay back the loan. The payments are then
redeposited back into the Jake Fund to be used over and over
again. This Fund is responsible for saving hundreds of
animals who may have been euthanized due entirely to
finances. It is offered only through Meadowlands.
(Availability is limited due to amount in the Fund at the
time of services.)
- Care
Credit: This is a "credit
card" type plan provided by Bank One which allows the owner
once again to make low monthly payments for services
provided. A credit check is required and notification of
acceptance is given before you leave the office. This is a
wonderful way to "put off payments, not treatment". Once
you've been accepted into the plan you may use your card to
pay for your pet's health care instead of using major credit
cards, checks, or cash making it easier to keep track of
your pet's expenses. Great for emergencies or routine care.
Routine Discount
Programs:
-
Puppy/Kitten Well Care Program: This program is only offered on the
first visit for puppies and kittens. It offers all the
routine care (examinations, vaccines, fecal exams,
dewormings if necessary, vitamins, and heartworm preventive
for the first 5 months) at a substantial savings!! Take
advantage of this wonderful plan that saves you $$!
- Geriatric
Programs: Any pet over the
age of 8 years is considered a "senior citizen". This is a
time in their life when we need to re-evaluate their health
situation, like changing foods and monitoring their health
more closely. A geriatric exam can spot many health problems
due to aging early, thus making successful treatment a
better possibility. This exam should be scheduled about 6
months after their vaccine exam so we are seeing them every
6 months.
We offer two kinds
of geriatric exams:
-
Basic
Exam: This exam is
performed during an outpatient visit and consists of a
physical exam, bloodwork (CBC, complete organ profile,
electrolytes, thyroid check), and a urinalysis. You will
receive an oral report of the doctor's findings and a
copy of the bloodwork. This exam requires a 5 hour fast
and a urine sample should be provided.
-
Complete Exam: This
exam consists of everything mentioned in the Basic Exam
PLUS chest x-rays, EKG, and a stool sample check. You
will receive a written report of the doctor's findings
as well as copies of the bloodwork and EKG. This exam
requires your pet to be dropped off for the day (to be
spoiled rotten!) and an 8 hour fast. Urine and stool
samples should be provided.
Don't let common geriatric conditions become a serious health
concern! If caught early many of these conditions are treatable
and often curable!
