If someone tells you we are taking your pet "in the back" THIS is where we mean.  Welcome to the main "hub" of Meadowlands.  The large table offers a convenient place to examine fidgety animals and facilitate blood draws.  We have oxygen connections at the end of the table for pets requiring such and adequate lighting and anesthesia available which also allows us to do minor surgical procedures (like declaws, wound cleaning/suturing, small growth removals, etc).   This table is also where we prep the animal for surgery.  The animal is anesthetized out here, shaved, and scrubbed for surgery prior to being transported into the surgical room for the final surgical scrub to avoid contamination of the surgical room.  (Wouldn't want hair flying around in there!)  This table is also used for ultrasounds, ECG's, etc. PLUS (yes there's MORE!) it serves as storage for supplies!

The board you see hanging on the wall off to the right is our schedule board.  On it is the patient's name, procedure, and any presurgical labs or procedures that need to be accomplished.  The door just beyond the table leads to the kennel.  To the left of that door (behind the wall the desk is on) is our radiology area.  WAAAAY in the back is the scrub sink where we prep for surgery. To the right of that sink are the doors leading to the surgical suite.

Many outpatient and presurgical procedures such as ECGs and ultrasounds are performed here.  Our ultrasound unit allows us to "see" inside an animal without an invasive procedure. It is useful for determining obstructions, stones, abnormal sized organs, masses, pregnancy, etc.  Most animals do not require sedation for this procedure, but the site of the ultrasound will usually require shaving.  We are able to print the images that are captured to show you what we found. Dr. Ali and staff perform an ultrasound
ECG unit

We also do ECGs (aka EKG's) for presurgical screenings, geriatric exams, and cardiac screening here. Our ECG (like alot of our equipment) is mobile so we can use it here, while performing dental cleanings,  or in surgery.  Our unit not only measures electrical impulses generated by the heart, but also measures respirations, blood pressure, oxygen saturation levels, and pulse.  It can alert the surgeon and technicians of a problem during any procedure by sounding an alarm. All information obtained can be printed for reference and diagnosis.

Our endoscopic and laparoscopic equipment is located back here as well.  Endoscopic procedures are performed in this area of the clinic while laparoscopic procedures are generally done in surgery where a sterile environment is necessary.

Endoscopic/laparoscopic Equipment

Located just beyond the back is the kennel. This is not only where we house our patients and those boarding with us, but also where our grooming and dental sink is located.

As with every area of our clinic our dental area is high tech.  We use ultrasound to keep your pet's pearly whites clean and healthy.  It is quicker and easier than hand scaling (although we use that technique as well when there are only a couple teeth requiring cleaning.) We also polish, and do fluoride treatments where necessary.

If your pet needs to spend some time away from home with us they stay in our climate controlled kennel.  We use all stainless steel cages to facilitate cleaning and reduce the spread of harmful germs. Each cage is disinfected after every use and is readied for the next guest.  Our cages have grids that lay on the bottoms of each cage which allow any bodily waste or water to fall through, keeping your pet dry and comfortable.
We understand how hard it can be to leave your pet.  You can rest assured when you beloved is staying with us that we will do everything we can to make his stay relaxing and comfortable,  and you can relax knowing he is receiving the highest quality of care.  Feel free to bring along your pet's favorite blanket or toy for his stay. We know how important it is for them to have "all the comforts of home". But if you forget, don't worry.  We have plenty to go around!
